DESCRIPTION:ThreeSixty’s annual celebration and fundraiser “Homecoming” is Saturday\, April 13\, 2024\, at the Granada Theater in Minneapolis!  \nThat night from 5:30-8:30 p.m.\, we will uplift the work of our talented young journalists and honor those who promote opportunities and diversity in the worlds of professional storytelling.  \nNBC national correspondent Adrienne Broaddus will be awarded our “Opening Doors Honor” which spotlights an influential leader who promotes opportunities and successes among diverse voices in media\, business\, or community. Mukhtar Ibrahim\, CEO and founder of the Sahan Journal will be honored with our “Widening the Circle Award.”   \nThe evening will be co-hosted by broadcaster and small business owner Sheletta Brundidge and ThreeSixty student Marquan Harper\, a senior at Twin Cities Academy.   \n\n5:00 p.m.  Doors Open\n5:30 p.m.  Social hour DJ’d by ThreeSixty student Everett Parker\n6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.   Program\n8:30 p.m.  Event Concludes \n\nAppetizers and one drink ticket are included with your registration.  \nThank you for your interest. Road construction season is here; lane and intersection closures along Hennepin Avenue in Uptown will affect your route to the Granada Theater.  \nGranada Theater in Uptown Minneapolis (3022 Hennepin Ave; Google Maps; Apple Maps)  \n Heavy appetizers will be served during social hour and guests will receive a drink ticket. There is a cash bar.  \nParking  \nThere are several paid parking options. We recommend Seven Points parking garage\, directly across Hennepin Avenue from the Granada Theater. You can reserve parking in the Seven Points garage.  \nA second option is the 1422 Lake St. surface lot one block away from Granada.  \nStreet meters are a third option; however\, they are limited and tend to fill up fast.  \nDress  \nSmart casual or cocktail reception attire match the vibe of ThreeSixty Homecoming.  \nYour gifts matter  \nOne hundred percent of your gifts to ThreeSixty Journalism support programming and scholarships for high school students with documented financial need. Gifts from supporters are critical to sustaining ThreeSixty Journalism and they ensure there are no barriers to participation. \nHONORED GUESTS \nAdrienne Broaddus\nOpening Doors Awardee | Adrienne Broaddus  \nEmmy-award winning journalist Adrienne Broaddus has been a national correspondent since 2020—first with CNN and now with NBC News based in Chicago. Her reporting has included focuses on the COVID-crisis\, Black Maternal Health\, policing in America and the need for living organ donors. Before joining CNN in 2020\, Broaddus spent nearly seven years anchoring and reporting in Minneapolis at KARE-TV. While at KARE\, she was the first journalist to speak exclusively on camera with the 9-year-old who witnessed the killing of George Floyd\, and she was among the first reporters on the scene to report legendary singer Prince Rogers Nelson had died in 2016 and was invited to sit down and talk with his family members in an exclusive interview. Broaddus is a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Journalism. She previously served as a board member for the Society of Professional Journalists Diversity Division. She is also a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Incorporated. When not on assignment\, Broaddus spends time collecting greeting cards\, soul line dancing\, playing the piano and volunteering at her church\, New Life Covenant Southeast. She is an organ donation advocate.   \nMukhtar Ibrahim\nWidening the Circle Awardee | Mukhtar Ibrahim  \nMukhtar M. Ibrahim is the founder and CEO of Sahan Journal\, a nonprofit news organization that covers Minnesota’s immigrants and communities of color. He is passionate about using journalism to empower communities and build a more equitable\, informed\, and engaged society. Mukhtar is known for his leadership in promoting sustainable business models for journalism and his standing as a thought leader in the media industry. His leadership has been recognized with numerous awards\, including the Carnegie Corporation of New York’s Great Immigrant Award\, Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal “40 Under 40”\, and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism’s First Decade Award. Mukhtar holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.  \n HOSTS\nSheletta Brundidge\nSheletta Brundidge  \nSheletta Brundidge is a small business owner. She founded her podcasting platform\, ShelettaMakesMeLaugh.com\, to spotlight and elevate Black voices. She now produces eleven popular weekly podcasts featuring Black subject experts and partners with businesses seeking to connect with Black audiences. As an advocate for other Black-owned small businesses\, Sheletta conceived and sponsored the first Black Entrepreneurs Day at the Capitol in February of 2023. A second event in 2024 brought hundreds back to the Capitol. For her efforts\, Sheletta has been honored by the National Small Business Association as an Advocate of the Year. She has also won a Women in Business Award from the Minneapolis St Paul Business Journal and was named Woman of the Year by USA Today. Sheletta is an Emmy Award-winning podcaster\, broadcaster and public speaker. The mother of four children\, including three with autism spectrum disorder\, she is the author of four best-selling children’s books about kids like her own.   \nMarquan Harper\nMarquan Harper  \nMarquan Harper\, a senior at Twin Cities Academy High School is a DJ and content creator from Saint Paul’s Frogtown neighborhood. With a passion for media\, he actively contributes to outlets like TPT – Twin Cities PBS\, and Minnesota Public Radio. He also serves as the Multimedia Specialist for his home church\, Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church. Marquan aspires to pursue a career in TV\, radio\, and film post-college\, driven by his dedication to storytelling and amplifying diverse voices in media.  \nThreeSixty Journalism\, a nonprofit program of the College of Arts and Sciences\, empowers diverse students with valuable leadership and storytelling skills\, prepares them for college and career success and fosters more representative truth-telling.  \nThank you ThreeSixty Journalism Homecoming 2024 sponsors! \n  \n \n \n \n  \n \n \n \n
