ThreeSixty Journalism is starting 2020 with its winter News Team session. Seven students arrived at the University of St. Thomas College of Arts and Sciences Saturday, Jan. 11, to freshen up their interviewing skills.
Students learned the difference between interviewing sources for a news story versus a profile. They engaged in a speed-interviewing activity to practice asking different kinds of personal questions.
This session’s theme is trailblazers, which we have defined as someone who is making a big difference, an innovator in their field, championing a cause or taking a stand or fighting for something he or she believes in no matter what, while also leading the way for others.
Next Saturday, students will work with professional writing coaches to interview their sources. Professional photographers will help take portraits for their stories as well.
